| Unitized Production Begins on JW Marriott Project |
JW Marriott utilizes a custom factory glazed unitized curtainwall. Units are approximately 3’-9” wide x 9’-8” tall. Clear anodized aluminum extrusions are fabricated, assembled and glazed in ASI’s Whitestown, IN facility. Glazing is Viracon VRE9-46 blue reflective vision and spandrel glass and is 4-side structurally glazed using a custom designed automated glazing system manufactured by Erdman Automation Corp. This glazing system automatically applies a consistent bead of sealant at speeds up to 30 inches per second. Utilizing an automated glazing system is one of several manufacturing methods incorporated in our production of unitized curtainwall. These methods provide the highest level of quality and increased productivity. The curtainwall also incorporates an architectural design feature of a 3” protruding vertical stainless steel fin. The project is 34 stories and will require over 7,300 glazed curtainwall units.
