ASI Limited Safety – Major Focus

Safety for our employees is a prime concern. We believe in a strong Safety Program that will continue to create and provide a safe job site. Our goal at ASI Limited is to achieve a zero injury report at the completion of our jobs. We believe that a safe job site doesn't just happen, it is a frame of mind.

There has to be a safety consciousness when planning work, you must anticipate potential hazards and plan accordingly. Safety is a team effort where every individual must take every precaution necessary to make it a safe work place for himself as well as for all persons around him. Furthermore, Superintendents perform weekly tool box talks with open discussions on how as a group they need to be proactive to avoid accidents.

Before each job a site specific safety plan is developed to outline any hazards that may be unique to that particular job. The proper equipment and/or training is then put into place to help ensure that we are taking every precaution necessary to make it a safe work place. For example, workers do daily equipment checks to insure that all safety equipment is in good condition, anything found to be defective is taken out of service immediately.

All newly hired employees go through a Safety Orientation Program, divided into two (2) phases. Phase 1 teaches the basics, from proper use of safety equipment to how to properly climb a ladder. Phase 2 goes into greater detail and is job site specific. It teaches the hazards of a specific job and also served as a refresher for the seasoned worker. Phase 2 training also explains what heavy equipment is to be used and who has been trained to use it. Additional training may be done at this time if deemed necessary.

Any employee who willfully disregards safe work practices specifically set fourth in the ASI Limited Safety Program will be subject to disciplinary action that could lead to termination. In addition to ASI Limited's training program, ASI employs union workers that go through on-going training including, but not limited to, (10) hours of OSHA training, First Aid, CPR, Heavy Equipment Operation and other classes that help ensure safe and qualified workers.

ASI employs a full-time safety manager who monitors the safety procedures and performs weekly and random safety inspections. Chris Shultz has completed 500 hour OSHA training and is certified to train employees in the operation of fork lifts, boom and scissor lifts, swinging stages, and the use of proper rigging.
