The University of Kentucky has selected ASILIMITED to furnish and install over 176,000 square feet of unitized curtainwall and associated 118,000 square feet of formed aluminum plate panels. This new hospital will open in 2011. Work for ASILIMITED will begin in July of 2009. The construction manager is Turner Construction(Cinn) and the architects are GBBN and Ellerbe Becket Architects.
The $450 million dollar and 1 million sq. ft. patient care facility will be constructed as a ten-floor structure. It will consist of two separate six-floor patient bed towers above four floors of operating and recovery areas. The patient rooms will mostly be private and be very flexible, in that they can be converted into intensive care units with ease.
3/23/09 Update: The tower and lobby Mock-up production have been completed at PGT's Salisbury, NC manufacturing facility. Mock-up installation is underway and testing is scheduled at the end of March with installation of this project beginning June.
4/6/09 Update: The tower and lobby Mock-up production has been completed at PGT's Salisbury, NC manufacturing facility. Mock-up testing has also completed with official results to come in the following days ahead, the project is scheduled for installation beginning in June 2009.
6/1/09 - ASI Limited has completed testing and approval from Mid America Laboratory for static air and water infiltration. At the test a combination of curtain wall, composite paneling, brick and stone veneer was erected for the purpose of weatherization testing and aesthetic evaluation. The overall mock up measured 25' wide by 12'1" vertical high wall. The unit mock up production and entire project production is scheduled for fabrication in the PGT Facility located in Salisbury, NC. Shop drawings are underway as work for ASILIMITED- PGT will begin in July of 2009.
6-10-09 Update: Flashing installation will be begin on site the week of June 15th, with first units scheduled for delivery from PGT in early- August to the site for installation.
1-26-10 Update: ASI Limited is underway with fabrication, layout, anchor installation and units on the University of Kentucky Patient Care Facility in Lexington, KY, a 1.1 million square foot hospital opening in 2011. Currenlty installing the unitized panels in floor 1-4 and units in the Tower on the 5th floor-8th floor, West elevation. Please see photos in this section.
3-11-10 Update: University of Kentucky New Patient Care Facility unitized installations on going, unit fabrication at PGT is approximately halfway. All podium unitized curtainwall units(less hoist areas) are installed. Unit installation is also ongoing in the tower and metal panels in the podium and bridge.
5-20-10 Update:: University of Kentucky New Patient Care Facility unitized installations on going, dry in of the podium is complete, all units less the hoist leaveouts are installed. All bridge units are complete. Curently underway with installation of window units on floors 5th to 8th of the tower, and next floors 9th to 12th.
6-18-10 Currenlty installing curtainwall and windows units on both the West and East Tower levels 5-12. As well as installing metal panels and the bridge, garage, and podium canopies.
7-29-10 All units on Podium are installed below floors 4, and 5th floor eyebrow panels are complete as well. West Tower curtain wall is complete as final units aer being set. East tower is currently underway.
